Pro bono ecological work
Footprint Ecology was set up to help further nature conservation. In addition to carrying out commissioned work, we therefore also choose to contribute to voluntary projects or those where lack of funding would otherwise prevent our involvement.
Some examples of pro bono work include contributing to the implementation panel for the proposed new UK Habitat Classification, helping to organise the National Heathland Conference (including jointly editing the proceedings), setting up and administering an online discussion forum, and contributing to publications and events.
Footprint staff also contribute to a number of voluntary recording schemes on a regular and ongoing basis, including WeBS counts, the National Plant Monitoring Scheme, MarineLIFE surveys, bee and wasp recording, and surveys for the Species Recovery Trust and Freshwater Habitats Trust.
