Senior Ecologist
£33,000 to £38,000 per annum (FTE, commensurate with experience), plus profit share.

We are seeking a new senior person to join the team and work on nature conservation projects around the country. Footprint Ecology is a unique consultancy that advises and collaborates with non-commercial organisations to conserve and restore nature; we are based in one of the most biodiverse locations in the UK. We have a national profile and a large body of repeat clients
The post will involve a portfolio of technical project work relating to land use planning, conservation land management, survey design and implementation, conservation policy, and strategic planning. The diversity of our work stream means that we require team members to be adaptable and ready to turn their hand to novel projects.
The post is an opportunity to be involved in important strategic work for wildlife whilst working for a compassionate, flexible employer in a small, close-knit team. We are seeking someone who has previously worked for NGOs, local authorities, statutory agencies or who has undertaken consultancy work for these types of clients. The successful candidate will need to be familiar with the conservation sector and be highly professional with good people skills and proven ability in project management.
This post is advertised as a permanent, full-time, position, although applications for part-time work will be considered. It will involve working as part of a team that is based in Dorset, but which undertakes work across the UK. We are happy to consider applicants who are based outside Dorset, but we encourage a hybrid approach and would expect regular attendance at the office.

Footprint Ecology is now an Employee Owned Company!
To ensure orderly succession, and that Footprint remains true to the intentions and ethics of the founders, the shareholders have sold their stake in the business to an Employee Ownership Trust. This change took effect on 30th June 2023, and it means the business is now indirectly owned by the employees, for their benefit.
What this means in everyday terms is that, actually, very little will change. Footprint will be doing the same work, with the same staff, from the same premises. But in the long run the change will bring certainty and security to the business, whilst improving staff engagement and morale.
