We have a strong environmental ethic, with a commitment to minimise our environmental impact. Our environmental policy details our best practice and includes:
- Minimising car use, and using public transport wherever possible
- Recycling (wherever possible) all packaging, printer cartridges and paper waste generated by the company
- Off-setting all carbon emissions through donation to suitable charities
- Use of 100% recycled paper, envelopes and packaging
- Reducing paper use (through double side printing, re-using scrap and only printing where necessary)
- Using electricity provided by RSPB Energy, the only 'green' energy scheme that directly helps wildlife now and in the future through electricity generated from renewable sources
- Using an ethical bank account for all company finance.
In the 2005-6 financial year we offset the carbon dioxide emissions we estimated had been generated as a result of the company’s activities by making a donation to BirdLife Armonia. Armonia is the BirdLife partner in Bolivia, and our donation went towards a project, working with local communities, to preserve Andean dry forest, a highly threatened habitat type home to a variety of endemic species, including the Bolivian Spinetail. Footprint staff initially helped establish this project in 2003.
